Often, artists approach us with a body of work that they eventually want to have published by a publishing house. We collaborate to design and produce a finished book, and then the artist takes it to publishing houses to pitch their work in a volume that is close to how they envision their final book.
Sometimes the artist then self-publishes the book. FIFTY SHRINKS is one example of one. It has gotten a lot of press in the US and in Europe and sold so well, it is currently on its third edition.
This book by late photographer Arlene Gottfried has been published by powerHouse in Brooklyn just as the dummy Arlene and I had designed. It was later nominated by TIME MAGAZINE as among the 25 best books in photography of 2016.
